Who We Are
Located across the province, from different backgrounds and walks of life, and we found each other through this advocacy — drawn together by a shared refusal to accept that families should have to fight this hard. We give what time we can, popping in and out around our own health, work, and family responsibilities. Some of us step back when we need to, and the rest hold the fort. That's by design: we look out for one another, cover for each other, and take breaks when we need them, so no one burns out and the work keeps going.
Allison Hicks (she/her)
Allison is a parent to two Autistic children, one with complex medical needs, and her advocacy is rooted in navigating systems families are expected to rely on, but too often have to fight.
With more than two decades of executive HR experience, she brings strength in communication, policy, governance, advocacy, and organizing people through complex work.
Direct and practical, Allison is committed to ensuring families are heard, respected, and not left carrying impossible burdens alone while pushing for fair supports that help children across BC grow, participate, and flourish.
Amy Perras (she/her)
Amy is a neurodivergent parent and primary carer to two neurodivergent children, one of whom is also medically complex. Her advocacy grows out of lived experience of navigating the systems families are told to rely on.
Over more than a decade of this work, she's become a steady voice for many families. Amy stays calm under pressure, thinks outside the box, and keeps the whole picture in view, with a gift for building relationships across communities.
Warm, compassionate, and deeply committed, Amy works to make sure no family feels alone in this. She pushes for supports that let every child be heard, included, and able to thrive.
